LITERACY

At KERC we strive to keep up with the most up to date movements in online learning. We have come up with a list of teacher/student-friendly literacy resources that are not only engaging and interesting but cover many literacy outcomes.  Some of these programs may be new to our teachers, but we can guarantee that they will be helpful in your planning and setting up students for work packages. We are here to support your journey to providing literacy to your students at home.

IXL is personalized learning for both Math and Language Arts for all grades. As students work through the lessons, IXL adjusts to their level, so the work is never too hard or too easy and there are as many practice activities as they need to learn the lesson. Once you have a teacher account, you can assign individual skills to your students and see their progress. IXL offers an app for both Apple and Android devices.

Raz Kids

Raz-kids is offering a free subscription to their resources for both parents and educators the rest of the school year. This program gives you and your students access to hundreds of levelled books ranging from Kindergarten to grade 8. Once you create a teacher account, you can select a reading level for each student and even assign specific books for them to read. Students can read the books themselves or have the program read them aloud and follow along. There is a short comprehension quiz after each book is read to see how well they understand what they are reading.
